Consumer law in Bodrum

Consumers, including foreign residents and visitors, can seek advice in English about defective goods, incomplete services, subscriptions, instalment sales and package tours purchased in Turkey.

A consumer matter is reviewed by considering the purpose of the transaction, the parties’ status and the goods or services purchased. A product problem, incomplete service, subscription, instalment arrangement or package tour may involve different records and requirements. The agreement, order and delivery information are considered alongside the remedy sought.

Identifying the problem and the claim

The promised characteristics, reported problem, dates of use and delivery, and applications to the seller or provider are examined. Conditions for repair, replacement, repayment or another remedy are assessed for the particular transaction. Warranty documents, promotional wording and after-sales correspondence are reviewed for their connection to the purchase.

Contract and sales process

Pre-contract information, order confirmation, payment, delivery and cancellation or termination records are considered together. Conditions applying to distance sales, transactions at business premises, subscriptions and other arrangements require separate review. The type of transaction, exceptions and records are checked before assuming a right operates identically for every purchase.

Applications and business review

Options involving the seller or provider, a consumer arbitration committee, mediation or a court are assessed against the nature of the claim and current requirements. Monetary thresholds, time limits and the scope of an application are checked when the step is considered. For a business, standard documents, information, delivery and complaint records are reviewed to identify points requiring correction.

Documents for the initial review

The agreement or order, invoice, payment and delivery records, warranty and service documents, photographs or records of the problem, and applications and responses can assist the review. The date the problem first appeared, the product’s use and the remedy sought should be identified. A past transaction is not assessed solely by reference to today’s conditions.
